Dear Host Family,
My name is Einar. I am an active boy on sixteen
years who lives in Norway. My life contains of
going to school, hanging out with friends and
playing soccer. My class has soccer and strength
training about three times a week. I also have a
strong wish to keep playing soccer when I arrive
the states. I love being in physical activity and
to try out new sports and activities, so I would
be really happy if you could show me how you do
things over there.
I have a lot of friends here, both boys and girls,
though I know some of them better than the others.
We often hang out together in the weekends, and
after school. If we are not sitting on a cafe
having conversations about sports, girls or
politics, you can find us in front of a
Playstation 3, or on the soccer field practicing
technique to become even better players. In
addition to me, a couple of my friends are also
spending their next year in USA. We are all really
excited on how we are going to experience high
school.
I am a member of a family on four, consisting of
my mother and father, and a little sister on the
age of fourteen. We live in a house together. We
also keep in touch with other family members such
as my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. We
visit those who don't live in town in vacations
and the rest of us often have these family
dinners, where everyone gathers at my
grandparents' house to have a good meal at
occasions such as birthdays and Christmas.
I can talk with my parents about anything, and I
also have a really good relationship to my little
sister. I would also like to mention that I get
really well along with the smaller kids in the
family, like my three year old cousins. I often
babysit for them if it is necessary. Another thing
I also would like to mention to you is that I get
along well with animals like dogs and cats.
I have a job at the indoor tennis and climbing
arena in town, a ten minute walk from my house. I
work there once a week to earn extra money for
clothes and sporting gear. Working at the indoor
arena is one of the best jobs I could have, as I
meet nice people, and can work in an environment
where physical activity is at focus.
One of my best memories that I like to think back
on would be a summer when me and my soccer team
reached the semifinals. We could not help for
celebrating until we lost our voices. Even though
we lost received the third place, and had a really
great time together.
There are many reasons why I want to be an
exchange student in the United States of America.
First of all, USA is a country I have always
wanted to visit. I want to experience the American
culture, try out and learn new things and of
course improve my English as much as possible. A
year in the states would be an once-in-a-lifetime
experience for me to join high school and discover
new sides of myself. I am really excited how it
will be to live in an American family, and I hope
that you could show me as much as you can of the
American culture.
In the end, I am really seeing forward to this
year in the United States, and I can't wait to
travel over the Atlantic to meet my hostfamily.
Sincerely yours,
Einar
