Dear Host Family,
First of all I would like to say thank you for
reading my letter. It really means a lot to me.
My name is Aleksander. I live together with my
family in Norway. In Norway we can call ourselves
a big family. I have an older sister, and a
younger brother. I must say I have been really
lucky with my family. We have travelled a lot
around the world and I have learned to see and
experience new places. I have been in the states
twice, once in Florida and once in California and
Nevada. The USA has something special, and I want
to learn and see more of it. Through my sister,
who spent her whole summer in California, I was
inspired to go as well.
My school has a multi cultural program, I am used
to a lot of people with different backgrounds, and
because of that I have learned to understand other
people's way of living, and I think it is
interesting. That's why I am signing up for this
exchangement year.
I have many friends and we hang out a lot, mostly
in the weekends, because my weekly schedule plan
is quite busy. When my friends and I hang out, we
probably do what all teenagers all around the
world does. Watching movies, listen to music,
playing videogames and just chilling out. At the
moment I don't have a girlfriend, it is important
to keep your options open ;)
Beside from school, exams and homework my passion
is music. Both listening and play it myself. I
play many instruments such as guitar, trombone,
drums and stringbass. I play in a band with some
friends, for fun. We mostly play like "soft rock"
and pop music. We practice in my basement, where I
have a band room. I also play in a school band,
there I play the trombone, and I have done that
for about 10 years. We are a marching band, as
well as a show band. We have competed in many
competitions. I have played the guitar for about 3
years, and I love it more than anything. I bought
a string bass and drum set for one year ago, and
taught myself to play.
I used to play soccer on a team, but I quit a
couple of months ago because the team started to
get more and more serious, but I played just for
fun and for the social part of it. In winter time
I go snowboarding. I think it's a lot of fun, and
the sport I think I am best at. I have always
wanted to learn how to play baseball. Since I was
a little kid I have seen it on TV and it looks
very interesting. Other sports like American
football and basketball also looks fun, and I
would like to learn more about the sports.
I just want to say: To go to USA for 1 year is my
biggest dream, and I believe in dreams that become
reality.
Sincerely yours,
Aleksander
