Dear Host Family,
My name is Orjan, I'm 16 years old and I live in
the beautiful country of Norway. I live in a
family with five members (including me), three
children and two adults. In my spare time, I like
to play soccer, be with my friends, and go to
Christian youth organizations, playing games at my
computer, watching movies and listen to music.
Soccer is my favorite sport. I used to play in a
club until one year ago. When I started at a new
school, it took too much time to play soccer
several times a week, go with friends, and do my
homework, and so on. Anyways, I'm very interested
in sports. I love soccer, and my favorite team is
Manchester United. I actually watched the final
match live on Old Trafford in the season (08/09)
between United and Arsenal. The match ended in a
draw, but United won the league. The medal
ceremony was something I'll never forget. It was
just too bad that they lost the Champions League-
final.
Almost every Friday, I go to a Christian youth
group. At the meetings, we sing and praise the
Lord. We always have someone who holds a speech
about different subjects. After the meetings,
there is a kiosk where we can buy ourselves some
candy and pizza. Afterwards we usually go home to
someone where we watch a movie or just talk about
our interests.
In school my favorite subjects is mathematics,
geography, history, general science and physical
education. I don't like languages that much.
Still, English is my favorite compared to the
other languages. That's another reason why I think
it's smart to move to the States for a year, since
then I can improve my English a lot. I think the
English subject would be much more fun. I can make
myself understood in English, since I've been for
example in England, but it can always be better. I
also have an American friend, so I'm used to speak
English. She helps me with both the oral and
written English.
One of the reasons why I want to go to the States
for a year is that I really like America. I like
American films, music etc. I don't know why, but
there is something unique about the country.
That's why I love America, even if I've never been
there. I really look forward to live "the American
way of life".
Sincerely yours,
Orjan
