Dear Host Family,
Hello, I am Sam. Studying in the United States has
long been my dream. I want to gain international
exposure and meet people from different
backgrounds so I decided to start by being a high
school exchange student in the United States.
I would describe myself as a smart and thoughtful
person. I can get along with new friends easily
and communicate with people well. For example, I
can do projects and work with both new and old
friends and that I am the one to always come up
with new ideas and solve the group's problem.
I want to study in the United States because I
want to experience different culture of the United
States. These experiences will make me more
mature. Apart from learning English, I hope I can
make new friends in USA and have an unforgettable
time with my host family and high school friends.
Also, the education system in the United States is
very good among the world. As I the English is
learn in Hong Kong is the British English, being
an exchange student is a good way for me to switch
from British English to American English.
There are four members in the family, my dad, mum,
elder sister and I. My parents love me very much.
They respect my decisions and support me all the
time. Although they are both very busy at work, I
have a close relationship with them. They help me
a lot and take care of me very well. As I am the
youngest in the family, parents take extra care of
me. Therefore, when I go to the United States I
want to train myself to be more independent and
take care of others like what my parents do to me.
My family lives together in unity. Sometimes I
seek help from my parents, I ask questions usually
when I am unsure about something or a situation,
they always show support and useful comments.
Friends are very important for me. My friends
describe me as a helpful, friendly and nice
person. We study and play together. On my bad days
when I feel upset about something, my friends
always show support by sending me messages or
calling me to make sure I feel alright. We share
many happy memories together. I think I am going
to miss them for sure in my exchange year. Friends
and family are the most important part in my life.
But I think I will be able to meet new friends in
the United States easily with my friendly and
outgoing personality.
I am an easy going person so I can live with
different people but I have a mild allergy so I
cannot live with pets that have loose and long
hair.
I hope that I can communicate more with my host
family so that we can know more about each other
and I can tell them what I usually do in my home
country and understand their living habits and
culture. I enjoy traveling very much. In this
exchange year, it will give me a chance to explore
the world.
Last but not least, I would like to thank you for
reading my personal profile and I wish you a
wonderful year with your exchange student as well.
Sincerely yours,
Yiu Chung
