Dear Host Family,

My name is Tabea and I am 14 years old. I live in Germany. I live together with my parents, my sister Lydia (17) and my dog Kambu. My oldest sister Antonia (20) is already moved to study.

I attend grammar school only for girls. At school it's okay being only with girls, but in my free time I rather enjoy to meet up with mixed groups. I have already done a school trip to Great Britain. After school I have lunch at home and then I'm doing homework.

Afterwards I do different hobbies depending on the day of the week. In my free time I love playing volleyball, playing the guitar, singing in a choir, dancing and going to the pathfinders. Volleyball and doing music is a very important part of my life because when I do something of it I'm balanced and feel very good. If it is possible I would like to bring my guitar. I love playing drama and therefore I am in drama class at school too. Amongst others I enjoy being with my friends. Every weekend I meet up with friends and have fun with them. In the evening we often meet at someone's house to sit together, talk, laugh and listen to music. Sometimes we cook together or watch DVD's. By the way I love cooking together with my family or my friends. In summer we love to go swimming.

My best friend Michelle is a very important person in my life because we are laughing and crying together. I also like to go shopping or to go to the cinema. With my family we often go to the theatre, because we all like it. I love travelling with my family or with friends. Last summer I was in Portugal with a Youth Group and I liked it very much. Sometimes there are celebrations with the whole family. It is always great to see them again. I enjoy being with the family because there are always interesting topics to discuss or to talk about.

My reasons to go away for a year are very simple. Mainly I want to learn more about the American culture and the people there. I've never been to the USA before but I'm very excited to get to know your lifestyle and to dive in a completely different world. Thank you for reading my letter. I am looking forward seeing you and to live with you if you think I would suit to your family. I am pleased that you are willing to take me as an exchanges student for a year.
