Dear Host Family,
Thank you for taking time to read my letter.
My name is Christina and I'm 15 years old. I'm
living with my family. My family, that are my
parents, Beate and Thomas, and my little brother
Robin. We've also got a dog, called Vienna, she's
a Labrador an very cute. We've got a very good
relationship in the family.
I'm going to a Gymnasium. But school here isn't
like that in the US, I think. We're not allowed to
choose any subjects; we have to learn the
compulsory subjects. So I see the exchange as a
chance to get to know new and unusual subjects.
I like school, because I'm eager to learn and I've
got the most of my friends there. I try to be
friendly and helpful to everyone and I've got a
lot of friends. We often meet to do something
together and we always have a lot of fun.
In my spare time I do much sport. I play tennis
for 8 years now, do rhythmic gymnastics for 4
years and I've just began to do jazz- and modern-
dance, which is a lot of fun.
Sometimes I have tennis match or a tournament from
rhythmic gymnastics and jazz- and modern- dance on
weekend. I also do a lot with my family on the
weekends, for example make an excursion or go to
musicals and concerts.
Next hobby of me is the music. I love to sing
(what doesn't mean I sing well) and currently I
try to learn to play the guitar on my own. I love
to draw and just be creative, too.
The first reason for wanting to make an exchange
year is that I want to improve my English. I'm
currently reading English books and I hope to
understand the people in the US. I also think that
this exchange program will help me a lot in the
future, it's a chance I will never get again and I
will make a good experience. The last reason why I
want to go to America is that I know it just from
TV and now I want to see how it really is. I want
to get to know the American way of life.
I'm very adaptable so it's equal for me what kind
of family you are; I just hope
you're nice and friendly when you choose me as
your exchange student.
Thank you for reading my letter.
Sincerely yours,
Christina
