FAQs
for StudentsCan I look
at my own profile?
This website is for prospective American host families ONLY. Exchange
students should NOT register and click through this site, as it
slows down the process and corrupts our databases. Please exit the
site now.
Can I change
my profile or my photo?
You cannot change your profile or your picture. If you break the
rules and look at your own profile, you will probably think
your profile is not "perfect." Your host family will see
your complete application, not just your profile, so it does not
matter if the profile or photo are not "perfect."
Do all host
families see the website?
No. Most host families do not ever see the website. The website
is only one small way that helps us find prospective host families.
Most host families are located through "word-of-mouth"
networking in communities throughout the USA. Host families are
America's most wonderful generous volunteers, and we find them everywhere,
in many different ways.
If my profile
is assigned to a certain region, is that where I am going?
No. Students can be re-assigned to a new region at any time. You
will know where you are going only when we notify you with your
host family information. If you are a student, please exit this
site now. We have thousands of incoming students worldwide, and
if you are viewing this site, it is slowing down the process for
our prospective American host families. Thank you for respecting
our rules. We look forward to welcoming you to the United States
of America!
